Hello

Hello you! Been a long crappy week at work but we had some good stuff outside of that so can't complain. I mean I probably will but what can you do?

Unsubscribe?

Ouch. But I respect your honesty so lets move on to my cinema trip for the week

ALIENS.

Aliens? The James Cameron one?

Thats the one. Now, you can be angry at the internet for a lot of things (social disharmony, rabid escalation of extreme capitalism, ruining the pronunciation of 'dog') but sometimes it does good things. Like Aliens Day, when some soul noticed that the planet that they go to in Aliens is LV-426 and if you were to look at that like you were an American looking at their calendar so you could ready it as LV-April 26th. So, April 26th became Aliens Day which is why I went to my local Cineworld to go watch Aliens.

And it was brilliant!

I have seen Aliens before at the cinema years ago in a double bill with Alien. Well, thats not exactly what the ticket said:

Honestly, Alien and Al sounds like a top notch forgotten 80s buddy cop crime TV show that should be re-discovered. Actually, what would that look like?

Well. AI still has a long way to go, right?

Anyways: I had seen it before in the cinema but its still brilliant seeing a film this good in the cinema with the full booming sound and everything. Also, it was the first time the eldest had seen the film the whole way through which was fun for me to see but at best a rollercoaster of emotions for him. He doesn't deal well with horror films, and whilst Aliens isn't full on horror its still borders on that so a few jump scares properly got him.

A brilliant film to see in the cinema, which means that now the only Alien film I haven't seen in the cinema is Alien 3.

Probably for the best, amirite?

Harsh but fair. Its been a good year for seeing classic films in the cinema, the highlight obviously being The Thing, and hopefully we'll get some more classics. Akira would be nice, seeing that the cinemas shut days before it was going to be release but never mind.

I guess nothing else got done this week

You'd think so right? I did in fact get the edit done for the new Conquistabores podcast done and posted which you can find here:

Also, in the show we talk about a video about the wrestler Paul Roma where he basically sand bags another wrestler for an entire match which you can find here:

One verrry annoying thing did happen with the edit; my Good Lady Wife was out on Friday to see Evil Dead Rise (which she liked, just don't ask about some of the other people at that particular screening) so thought I'd get the edit done then, all ready for the weekend. So I did! All done and then...Audition would export. So I restarted it and it hadn't saved all the work I'd done that evening. None of it. 2 and a half-ish hours of work gone. It hadn't crashed, it had auto saved but each save file was the same project from the start of the evening. Hadn't work at all.

Brilliant. Been in the market for a new audio editor for a while and this underlines it. I have been divesting myself of the various Adobe products because they're just a bit janky and crash and pull stuff like in the previous paragraph. I mean, I'll say now these are 'acquired' products as I simply cannot afford their ridiculous subscription fees, but even fully paid up people say the same.

So no, its in the bin. Get rid.

Thats good to know

See you again next week for more software reviews. It'll probably just be the same thing but who knows.

I think that actually is it for this week, I picked up Powerwash Simulator for the youngest and I think he want to put me to work cleaning a children's play area so that'll fun

Just think of the smile on the kids faces once you're done

Thanks for that.

See you next week!
