Intro

Come on, a day late is fine, it's Christmas!

New Stuff

So the big video last week was this one on Darkplace:

And boy did this one get smacked pretty quick; think before it had even finished processing it had 4 copyright hits and was blocked in the UK. There was an interesting disparity in these though; 1 was from the BBC for one of the Mighty Boosh clips and the others were from Channel 4 for the various Darkplace bits. The BBC demonetized the video, which was fair enough but three Channel 4 ones were all blocking it in the UK, going straight past the demonetization route and straight to a ban. None of this was against the channel itself so not a proper hard copyright strike. Thats only happened once before, it was on the Action Jackson video when I first tried to post it on YouTube. It got hit for the music at the beginning which is why it was on Vimeo for ages.

The only other video was another Mean Machines audit video:

Which is the last scheduled video on there at the moment. I've not had a chance to do any more of those yet and am debating a little break over Christmas. Might change my mind, who knows?

Oh, new podcast went up as well:

That was a tough show mainly due to the rampant objectification of women throughout the whole thing from the pun based name for TNA down to their treatment of the women wrestlers in the ring. It's a wonder that it survived as long as it did before it became Impact Wrestling.

This is a great show

Finally caught up with The Mandalorian so I can join in with Mando Fridays with the rest of the cool guys. It's really good, isn't it? It really is. Is it better than the sequel trilogy? Thats a toughie. I really enjoyed all of them, with The Last Jedi being my favourite of the 3 films. I do have a total blindspot when it comes to Star Wars so it's hard for me to say if the films are good or its because just hearing the opening theme and seeing the giant STAR WARS on a massive screen blasts me back to being a kid again ruining my objectivity.

Still, Mando is really good. The whole thing popping up about it having the structure of a video game is fairly spot on but it makes for a nice structure. We get a story with clear stakes that has an ending that propels us onto the next thing. It doesn't fall into the trap of some streaming shows where the story is stretched across several episodes or an entire series so everything blurs into one. Each episode of The Mandoalorian has a clear beginning and end, which is reinforced by its release schedule. You get one a week so you can't blast through the lot in one go, making each one a mini-event. Which is just like TV used to be, lets be honest with ourselves, but thats a conversation for another time.

It's nearly Christmas! Whoop!
